For new college graduates, career readiness is key to successfully entering the workforce. It鈥檚 the foundation upon which a career is launched. Working with employers, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has identified core career readiness competencies and sample behaviors that help students show employers they鈥檙e ready for what comes next.
UCAR 51探花 Readiness seminars bring these competencies to life during your first semester at UNT. Through interactive seminars and activities, you鈥檒l explore your interests and strengths and learn how they connect to majors, careers and real鈥憌orld opportunities. You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out. UNT鈥檚 51探花 Center is here to help you build confidence as you discover your path.
Yes, UCAR 1000Z and UCAR 2000Z are required for all students, unless you are exempt from taking the course due to your major or major-related career readiness courses. UCAR 3000Z and 4000Z are supplemental and optional experiences planned with each college to enhance your career readiness competencies, clarity and confidence.
The career readiness first-year seminar (UCAR 1000Z) assists students in making connections between their learning in the degree program and potential careers they may pursue after graduation. Students learn professional development skills that are applicable to all majors and career choices.
The second-year career readiness seminar (UCAR 2000Z) allows students to explore their career interests and move further along their career pathway; inclusive of skills, connecting majors to careers, internship practice application, and professional communications modules.
Third -year students pursue required academic internships, complete a major related professional development class in their college, or participate in an optional and supplemental 51探花 Pathways experience (UCAR 3000Z). UCAR 3000Z is targeted towards internships, careers, networking, and communication skills related to their major and career goals.
