The UNT 51̽»¨ Center is looking for enthusiastic students with a passion for educating and mentoring to join our UCAR 51̽»¨ Readiness Peer Mentoring Team!
51̽»¨ Readiness Peer Mentors serve as online course instructors to students enrolled in the Second Year 51̽»¨ Readiness Seminar (UCAR 2000Z). They are responsible for grading assignments, meeting with students for check-ins, serving as a resource and promoting the benefits of participating in and completing the 51̽»¨ Readiness Seminar to students enrolled, incoming students, and the UNT community.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and grade each Checkpoint and Extra Credit options per Module.
- Advise an assigned group of students (across 2- 4 course sections) participating in the 51̽»¨ Readiness Seminar though the review of Checkpoints via email, zoom, course, or in person.
- Communicate with students through Canvas, 1:1 mentoring sessions, email (Outlook) and video call (zoom)
- Assist students in seminar with creating and/or updating Resume, Cover letter and LinkedIn profile.
- Participate in 51̽»¨ Center wide review sessions and peer advising workshops.
- Become a peer expert in the modules presented in the 51̽»¨ Readiness Second Year Seminar. Modules include:
- Skills and Upskilling
- Majors and 51̽»¨s
- Internships
- Professional Communication
- Attend Team Meetings once per week
- Support UNT 51̽»¨ Center events and initiatives as needed. This includes tabling, event check-in, drop-in resume review assistance and more.

- All Mentors will receive career readiness training on a variety of topics as well as have the opportunity to participate in other professionally developmental opportunities and events.
- Other skills gained include: Technical Skills like Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Canvas, Conducting Online Research, Written and verbal communication skills, organization skills, time management, customer service, peer-to-peer coaching, teamwork, professionalism
Qualifications
- Undergraduate students only
- Must be a current UNT student who will be enrolled for the Fall – Spring semesters
- 2.75 GPA or Higher
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a student at UNT. Preference will be given to sophomore and junior level candidates.
- Successful completion of the UCAR 2000Z Course is preferred
- Must be available to work 15 hours per week, at least 3 days per week consistently from August – May.
- Must be in compliance with the student code of conduct
